kuhli loach feeding question....

okay, tank is now cycled....yay...and, we went out tonight and bought 6 young red phantom tetras and 3 kuhli loaches, also small. The guy at the lfs said the kuhli loaches eat the food that has fallen to the bottom, just feed them all flakes, and the loach will eat the leftovers. I read up top here that they should be fed the sinking pellet food? Will they get enough"left overs" or...do they need their own food?

They should be given varied diet and will appreciate every food you give them, not just leftovers.

the kuhlis should have a supplemented diet, just like the rest of the fish in the tank. they will eat what falls to the bottom of the tank, but they is not enough for them to really thrive on.

i feed mine the same things i feed the rest of the fish in the tank, Tetramin fish flakes, Hikari alage wafers and shrimp pellets, whatever happens to sink into the bottom.

yea i think shrimp pellets are one of the best choices, they sink quickly so the other fish wont get to it before the loaches see them
