Kuhli Loach vs. Dojo Loach

And how would they do in a planted tank? Are they destructive to plants?

Ah I love this topic :) My male dojo loach is my favorite fish in my FW tank. He has a gentle but adorable personality. When I drop a pellet down for him my other fishes love to crowd around him and pick up the tiny bits since he is a such a messy eater. He doesn't like sharp movements, but he will inspect your hand if you place it in the tank. He is also one of my most hardy fish. I have had him for a while. He is happy, active and fat ^^

Not quite sure about live plants. But they love to dig. I will often find my large decore floating because he was searching for food under it.

Here is a pretty decent pic of mine.
He loves to hang out under the fake cave entrance I have. I really would love to take a photo or video of him eating.

Dojo versus clown loach

The full official name of the dojo loach is "crazy dojo loach".

I also keep one in a tropical tank at 26C, and it is by far the most active fish in the tank. The wife hates which is added amusement, and the kids call him the dragon fish.

I also have three clown loaches, and the four of them scramble for food chasing pleco wafers under shells and wood. Bizarely, two of the clowns have paired and the dojo has paired with last clowns. They swim around the tank in tandem rubbing necks.

Exactly how big can a Dojo get?

I love the look of the kuhli loach in my tank, small little faces, fun trying to find out where they are hiding.

The weather loaches that I own are always waiting for food at the top of the tank when I'm passing by the tank, same with the goldfishes.

I would go with kuhlis just because they reach a smaller maximum length.

Great place for loach info (loaches.com)

Oh what the heck, figure I'd share a recent pick of my dojo, a closeup headshot. I like the real close in pics but dont have a dslr or macro lense or anything, this is about the best quality I can get from a point n shoot 3.2MP
