Hey everyone,

I have 2 apistogramma agassizii cichlids that are complete nutcases. I had them in my 55 gallon tank until they decided to kill 1 platy, 2 panda corys and 3 shwartzi corys. I was forced to move them to my 10 gallon planted tank.

They are currently with my Crowntail Betta and everyone takes care of themselves very well. I even had 3 Diamond Tetras in there with my Betta at one point (because I was trading the Diamonds in a few days). So the Betta is peaceful.

My question is, I wanted to get 3 Kuhli Loaches. Now, to anyone who says "your tank will be overcrowded" my response is I do 2 water changes a week and I know what I'm doing. Also the cichlids are only 2" and the betta is 3".

If the Kuhli's get harassed, they'll be moved to the 55. The only reason that I want to put the Kuhlis in the 10 gallon is because it has sand as the substrate and the 55 gallon has flourite.

I was wondering if the Kuhlis will take better care of themselves with the Apistos than the Corys did?

Suggestions?

I wouldn't bother with kuhli's if your cichlids are so nasty. Kuhlis are pretty docile little guys, they don't have the greatest eyesight and have a tendancy to do midwater dashes around the edges of the tank for several minutes when they're having a "happy moment". I personally feel they'd put themselves in situations open to attack fairly regularly.

Aww that sucks. You know what I'll do, I'll move the Apistos to a small 2 gallon breeding net for 2 days inside my 55 GALLON. In those 2 days I'll add the Kuhlis. Then after the Kuhlis are established, I'll move the Apistos back to the 10 gallon.

Maybe if the Apistos think that they are intruders in the Kuhlis' territory, they might be a little less psycho. Otherwise I'll move the Kuhlis to the 55 even if I see a little bit of chasing.

that is WAY too much fish for a 10 with adult size and personality taken into account!

those ciclids are not community fish you shouldn't have had them with community fish and you betta is in danger

depending on what you have in the 55 i'd put your betta in there

don't get the kuhli loaches unless you set up a tank for just them and fish they can get along with

i've never heard of a king of ciclid that can live, even 1 individual, in a 10 gallon

you need to research the needs of all the kinds of fish you have and make arrangements accordingly

The cichlid is a dwarf cichlid that grows to a maximum size of 2.4 inches (I have females, males grow to 3.5"). I have done my research.
