Lace cat with goldfish?

I may be in a bit of a jam! :1zhelp:

I currently have a cold water tank with two small goldfish, and a warm fresh water tank, currently housing an approximately 2" Lace {False Upsidedown} Catfish and a juvenile, 1", Green Spotted Puffer.

The GSP should soon start being switched over to brackish conditions, and from what I've been able to gather, the Lace should not be transitioned away from fresh.

My questions are:

1.) Are goldish and catfish compatible? The larger gold is currently about the same size as the cat, and the smaller gold is about 2/3 that size.
For the near term I think they would all be in a ten gallon tank together, with plenty of hiding places for the cat, of course!

2.) Would there be an ideal temperature at which to keep this mix? I believe the gold's high-end temp to be similar to the cat's low-end temp; +/- 72*F. Can anyone with experience tell me if this is correct?

I'd appreciate any input, as I would prefer not to start a third tank at this time. I am new to brackish, so I'd prefer to focus mainly on getting that tank started. Thanks!!!

Both need much larger tanks so I hope you are planning an upgrade in the future. The cat (Synodontis nigrita) will also better at higher temps (76-78 degrees) which are not the best for the goldfish.

Thanks for the input! Yes, we have plans for a couple of much bigger tanks because I do have a good idea how much bigger these fish can get. I'm not sure I understood how FAST they can do it though. I've had the cat for less than two months, but every time I see him it seems he's added a third to his size! I already need to go get him a bigger "stump" to hide under!!!

What you said about temperature situation is what I was afraid of. I want everyone healthy and happy, so I really appreciate your help!!!

Actually the goldfish are fine in warmer temps, they are not true coldwater fish like people have been told for so long.

But the goldfish do need an upgrade, asap. They can literally double in size in just a couple months. They will get big too, about fist size not counting the fins if they are round-bodieds, and if they are long-bodied they can get to 18" or more. Have you read the goldfish article stickied in this forum?
