lady cichlid putting on weight

I will agree with others that the "fatness" is not from eggs. When I had my AC's they breed a few times, never did I see them get fat. Just all the sudden I would notice their mouth looked swollen and when you would look there was eggs in there. The best part was when they "hatched" though she would open her mouth and there would be all these babies inside!!!

Is this one of your new females???

yeah she is the newest female i have gotten thanks for the info was not to sure she still seems to be acting the same all though she is a little more shy likes to hide a lot lately i will keep an eye on her over the next few days and see what happens they get fed every night when i get home about 2 hours before "lights out" :) i put little bits in there at a time so they only eat for 3 mins and i make sure EVERYTHING is gone so i dont get old food lying on the bottom

It may not hurt to get some Gel Tek (Ultra cure PX)..if you think it could be internal parasites. That is what I got for my DPs when I got them and they had it. It isn't going to harm your fish...you soak their food in it before feeding them. It did help one of my DPs unfortunately it was to late for the others since they were already not eating. Is she still eating???

Anyway here is a link, to what I was talking about

I hope she turns out fine, good luck with her!

yeah she is still eating and is acting the same so im really not to sure i have been having a bit of a read and if they get sick they stop eating but she is still eating well was last night so i think ill leave it another couple of days see if she keeps eating and go from there

The thing with internal parasites though Soul, is once they are not eating it is to late. I really do not know much about them, except my DPs had them.

Here I did find this look at 5 and 6 does this in any way sound like your fish? It does mention bloating???

the movie there under the pictures

the only problem is i have nothing to isolate her from the other fish :( i am getting another pump sent here at them moment as a spare and a heater will be here next week might pay to get a hospital tank???? can is wait for 7 days do you think thats the quickest i will have another tank setup and cycled till then maybe i cut down on food for all of them?

It wont hurt any of the fish if you didn't feed them for a couple days. You may feel bad, but it really wont hurt them.

I'm not good at fish "diseases" cause I haven't really had much experience in many myself, except for the internal parasites.

I hope everything turns out ok for her. I really like your fish, they are all very nice!
