i just got them but i think there sick or in shock. There just sitting on the bottom not doing a thing. Is this normal or should expect a death soon?

alright, the fish survived the night but seem a little to scared to come, except for one of them. I try to feed them but they spit it back out.
this is a tangynican cichlid and fairly friendly toward other fish taht's not of its species, was wondering what other friendly fish i can out in there.
What are your water parameters? What other fisg and size do you have in there? What size are these?
my parameters are 8 b/c of the dolomite i put in there 
and the size of them are 1" to 1.5". It's only those 3, a pleco which is 5" and a upside down catfish 3"

What size tank is it?
Altolamprologus comprissiceps get around 6'', though they are slow growing. They can be aggressive toward their own species though. They are generally peaceful and can be kept with most other similiarly or slightly smaller fish such as those in the Julidochromis genus, the Neomlamprologus genus, and Lamprologus genus. I wouldn't keep them with Altolamprologus calvus though as they could interbreed producing hybrid offspring.

I'm sure their shyness is because they are the only fish in the tank, or they cannot see the others. Adding few dithers, such as guppies, might bring them out.
My knowledge of other Tanganyikan species is limited, but hopefully it will help you in choosing tankmates.
You could go for a pair of Julidochromis transcriptus, or a colony of J. ornatus, which ever you prefer (just try not to mix julie species as they could produc hybrid offspring).

Kanstar- Are they still doing well for you? I have 2 Altolamprologus compressiceps and they are in a 55 (they are a bit over 2.5 inches and purchase at 1 inch about a year ago) and they live with a Tiger Datnoide (4"), Spotted Climbing Perch (3.5"), C. borleyi (5"), a Labidichromis (3")-the borleyi and Lab were given to me last year by a friend at school in an aquaculture program that was ending for the year-, and 2 Cory Cats and 2 rare Plecos (L114 and L007). As of yesterday they were also living with 2 N brichardi's but I seperated the Brichardis cause I want to breed them and with all those large mouths in the 55 there is no way they will survive. Anyway hope this helps and good luck with them.

yeah there just swimming around now, ones braver then the rest so he leads them out. mine are in a tank with a upside-down catfish and a 5 inch pleco and,get this, a small guppy. It's been in there since the beggining with them and it just swims and nibbles on things with the other guys swimming around. but the compressiceps are 1 in though so thats maybe why they haven't eaten him yet. thansk for the feedback, I felt that this thread just died like so many before it's time
