Hello,

At Petland they sell shrimp that are about 3", redish and sell for $21.00 Can. They are titled "Large Shrimp" They are kept with dark parrot cichlids. I was wondering if anyone could give me a few names of some large shrimp so I can look it up and try to match a picture. Im thinking of buying one Thursday night when they are half price since they are so expensive.

THANKS

They are probably Asian filter shrimp. At half off of 21.00, you will be paying $10.50 or so which is about the going retail rate. This is not a bargain. They see you coming...;). But you'll think you got a deal lol. They re pretty cool shrimp, but I wouldn't keep them with cichlids or they'll be an expensive lunch, wether molting or not.

There are all kinds of prawns and big and small clawed shrimpo being sold at even Petco and Petsmart right now. Anything with claws will try to eat your fish.

Do they resemble this juvenile M. rosenbergii?

I can't even keep crayfish, either the blue Florida Lobster or the wild-caught crayfish. Even at 5 to 6 inches, they are no match for even 2 inch jewel chichlids. I;ve stopped feeding them to my fish... lol

yeah, bamboo shrimp change color. Red is suppose to be an alpha male thing. Purple stripe? never heard of that... got a pic?

I have bamboo shrimp, 2..their fairly new to my tank about a week, can anyone give me any general tips, i have them with smaller community fish, danios and cherry barbs to keep them safe. any tips, feeding, decor?
