Last Cycle Question (maybe)

The shrimp have been in for four days. I have an ammonia reading of almost 1.0. What should the ammonia spike go to before I remove the shrimp?

don't remove the shrimp at all... Just let em go till they're gone =) I betcha if ya poked one, you'd see its now a little chunk of funky jello...

OK, but what do I want the spike to go to?

it goes where it goes... When I did my 55, my ammonia kit was maxed for over a week... It reads to I THINK 6ppm... Keep in mind, the more food you give em, the more bacteria will grow to consume it... That means, you can put in a bigger initial bioload, rather than one small fish at a time...

Can you keep crabs and other inverts in while the tank is cycling ot help controle algae? I'm getting some uncured rock to cycle my tank with and wondered if it was possible to put them in while the tank had high Ammonia readings.

Not if you want to have them alive after the cycle.
