leaking Eheim Professional 2

Right, except that it makes a slight humming maybe because of this--and I thought that this might not be "healthy." By the way, how do I lubricate that hidden primer gasket? You can't do it by Q-tip or anything else. I've tried and so have others. What I do is this: I buy a spray can of silicone (In sport or diving shops, here) attatch a thin straw of the WD-40 type-- super thin-- and spray deeply into the groove each time I clean. If I don't, then priming gets pretty hard. The silicone is food-grade-- used in food-industry machining. Like I said at the beginning-- the filter is a hassle. Most people love it, however.

Personally I don't touch the primer, I just give a quick suck on the outlet and the job is done.

To get to the bottom of the leak you have to establish where the water is coming from, if it's the main gasket then that needs replacing, if it's the priming gasket then I it will have to be returned to Eheim unless you are confident to strip it down and able to get the part.

The slight humming is normal, so many people say that they are completely silent, from my experience this is just not the case.

Lubing the primer gasket... when the head is disassembled, depress the prime button and lube the gasket. You can't do it unless the button is down, this exposes the gasket.

as far as the hum... if you listen closely you can hear water running. <grin>
