I just noticed my SW tank is leaking. It is a slow leak, only missing about a 1/2" on H2O from yesterday. I don't have a second tank available. Any suggestions on what to do with the 2 fish I have while I fix the leak and wait for the live sand to settle back in?

TIA for the help.

Are you sure it's not just from evaporation?

If it is a leak, just put your sand and fish is a plastic tub with a heater and powerhead until you fix your tank.

Yes... i've found the leak and done as you said. What is the rate of evaporation like anyway. I've seen what happens to my FW tank, but not to my SW as much yet.

Thanks for your help.

Rate of evaporation is dependent upon both the surface area of the water and the amount of water movement. It also depends on whether you have an open top or a secured lid.

My 46 gallon bow has an open top and a fair bit of surface agitation. I have to top up about 2 quarts of water each day.
