Learning how to raise tilapia and sardines

While most people seem bent on traveling to foreign countries, my dream of retirement has always been to have a small homestead-ish type of farm. That is half a dozen years away for me but I would like to start learning how to breed and raise tilapia, sardines and shrimp for the purpose of eating. That is why I am sneaking this question into this forum I cannot find live tilapia in the pet stores or fish markets nearby. Does breeding and raising other large cichlids require the same skills, techniques and equipment? I have read that sardines are difficult to breed in captivity, but in other places it says that they breed naturally and quite readily. Can anyone comment on this?

Google is your friend. It took me about 3 seconds to find tilapia by typing in "buying tilapia for farming,"

It as one thing to farm fw fish, and quite another to farm sw critters. Everything I find says sardines are all wild not farmed.

Thank you! But in Beijing, there are no fresh tilapia for sale...so I was wondering if I learned how to breed and raise some other kind of similar cichlid, if that would give the skills that I need? I want to find something to practice on.

The news is not good, the problem is not that there are no tilapia farms in Chine but rather they are so poorly tun the fish are dangerous to eat. Clearly there are tilapia farms in China. I would assume they should sell live fingerlings. You need to track some of the farms down and contact them, Try starting here https://www.tilapia-farming.com/tag/china/ (I found this site bu Searching for "tilapia fish farming in china."
