I have to mention too that I have continued researching and there are aquarium specific lights out there but they are VERY expensive. I've also been cruising some gardening forums with some very informed people in them. They pointed out how the LED industry doesn't really have any solid standards to do some comparison shopping. Seems like it'll be a few more years before I'll consider making the jump for grow lights after all. Sad really. They make sense to use but I don't wanna get gypped either.

but expect to fork out the cash for it. Its a modern equivalent of the bulb favorite famous inventor worked on, Nikola Tesla (not like the crappy low efficient short life bulb that Thomas Edison happen to get right through massive trial and error). Its basically an electrodeless fluorescent bulb that is radiated with microwaves rather than passing an electrical current through the bulbs via electrodes on each end. I think they are rated at 100,000 hrs or something crazy. To bad they just havent caught on to where the price has come down at all.
