I have a leftover betta from my sorority. Does not really play well with others. Had to be isolated in the past because of problems with about half of the other female bettas.
I got tired of issues and put this un-named betta up for adoption in the past. Betta is still here because everyone who "wanted her" just wanted to raise her self esteem by saying they wanted her and not actually come pick her up.
Currently is being isolated in a 2.5 gal tank temp .
Because it's getting cold in here, I think I should make a choice soon with this leftover betta. Poor thing will be begging for a tiny fish sweater in this weather.
Options:
-Keep this female betta as the foundation of a new sorority group.
but she's fussy and only gets along half of the time. So it'd be risky matching her to newcomers.
-Put her back up for adoption like I did in the first place due to the behavior issues. Could take a while and net me a lot of those self esteem raiser folks.
-Put her into boarding. I could setup a 20 or 30 once I get a heater for it. Plenty of tankspace, will be subjected to long distance issues such as bad weather or other issues me with commuting there. Will get fed at most every couple of days.
Primary reason these other tanks are there is as emergency tanks for my catfish.
In the event my synos need to be evacuated from their tank, lone betta will need to be moved in a hurry.
- Put her into a community tank. Might be risky because due to Northeast weekend coming up, I suspect most of my tanks will now contain killifish.
- Setup the 2.5 gal as permanent housing for the single betta.
Which is what most betta keepers do, however I'm afraid I cannot properly maintain such small tanks due to the frequent water changes they need.
Modern bettas don't seem to live very long so this one is already near the end anyhow.
- Give to the petshop. It's their problem if this fussy betta attacks and injures about half of the others.
