Is it safe to feed lemon wedges to golfish? I saw in my local pestmart a big lemon wedge floating in the water and the goldfish nibbling on it. Anyhow is this safe and if it is, is it good for them?

That's a first. I have a juvenile Oranda and I love him. But as far as a lemon wedge I would stay away from it. He gets a treat of freeze-dried bloodworms 2x a week in addition to his pellet food. He gets variety in his diet but I wouldn't feed him (or any of my other fish) a lemon wedge. It's worth some research though.

i wouldnt either. are you sure it was a lemon wedge? i recently started to give zucchini to a couple tanks at work and in the same day had 2 different customers ask why there were apples in the tanks.

I fed one of my goldfish a lemon slice and they didn't touch it, I think you guys are right about it maybe being a orange or zuchinni slice, I just thought it was a lemon cuz the skin was yellow, it might have just been from being under water for so long.

well, what is it's normal diet? It may not be used to the varied (and in my opinion proper) diet. Give it time, and it will probably learn to eat it, provided that the goldy hasn't been eating all one food item for years now.

i doubt every petsmart does everything the same. i worked at one for two months and they never fed or mentioned feeding lemons or oranges. oen may be feeding oranges, one feeding lemons, others neither. i have heard that oranges have some benefit to koi, cant remember exactly what though. in the end i dont think petsmart should be feeding either and neither should anyone at home for that matter.
