 if i have a large tank(40-50 gallons) could i keep firebelly newts and leopard frogs together. they both like several inches of water, 1/3 - 2/3 water and they both like cool water.maybe i could wait a few months for the newts to get bigger then add the frogs? just wondering

Well, I've read that the toxins from the fire belly newts would kill any other species you put in with them, so I wouldn't recommend it.

if your tank is large enough you could put a divider in.

I agree. And most frogs WILL try to eat anything that fits in their mouths, including the newts.

I've already typed it three times: Experts suggests newts be kept in a species only environment. That means newts only. No other animals.

Leopard frogs are not really suitable for a tank that size in any case. They need a lot of room, and they don't deal well with glass.

Having found a Leopard Frog in the road (I very nearly ran it over), I would agree, Leopard Frogs need a TON of space. They get simply massive.
