It's been at least 63 seconds since a stocking thread around here, so... :)

29g, will be planted to some degree, not sure how heavily yet. Plan to keep it at 78F.

  • 1 angel
  • 1 pearl gourami
  • 8 lemon tetras
  • 1 BN pleco
  • Snail?
Would the tank be overstocked at this level? If not, would it be possible to add 3-5 platy's in there? The other thing I'm wondering, all the fish (with the exception of the pleco) are mid-top level, from what I've read. Would this be a problem in the tank?

Thanks!

(on a side note, maybe we should have a dedicated "stocking" forum - keep all the related topics together? Just a thought, as there are a lot of these types of questions...)

I'm slowly assembling the bits and pieces. Currently have the tank, an AC50 filter (no media), crappy iron stand, but no hood or heater. I plan on building my own hood / light combo with compact fluorescent bulbs. I do have substrate, but it's a "tan/brown" gravel where I was looking for something darker; of course, I'm on a budget so wholesale replacement may not be an option.

I'm thinking if I mix in a bag or two of Eco-Complete black, I can darken the substrate and help my (planned) plants along as well.

It's a comin' :)

One thing - in what order would you add the fish? Obviously, it's not a great idea to dump them all in at once(!), so who would go first?

should be okay watch the angel gourami mix

btw, 78 is on the low end for angels...yeah..yeah I know they say the angels are fine at temps lower but IME I have had fewer problems with angels at 80 ;)

How would the rest of the crew react to 80?

lemon tetras and BN are fine at that temp

not sure about the gourami but research indicates it should be fine too
