Well I'll give you my first funny from my first day.
Customer comes up to me and he is almost giggline. He is in his 50s I'd say and he says he'd like to ask me a question. Around this time my manager comes by smiling. So I suspect something, I'm being set up.
Customer tells me he has a goldfish (he holds his hands up to demonstrate the fish is about 4" long). He giggles some more. He think he needs a friend.
So I ask about the tank the goldfish is it. The man spreads a hands just a tiny bit further apart "Oh about a 2 gallon bowl".
Out of the corner of my eye I see my manager turn his head away. Surely I'm being set up right? Surely this man doesn't have a large goldfish in a 2 gallon bowl, these guys are just having some fun with me on my first day. But maybe not so just in case I nod my head and ask him what kind of friends he'd like the fish to have. "Oh I don't know, do the common plecos get along with them?"
Thats when I have to start laughing with the customer. I turn to the manager and pass the customer off to him. I of couse expect the two of them to high five and laugh at the fun they've had at my expense. But nope, the guy was serious. His neighbor had the fish for a year or so and he offered to rescue it. Luckily for the goldfish the man walked out with a new tank and no new friend for now.
Oh a fun side...I got to take home a freebie branching hammer (from the same colony my other one was from) and got to pretend the beautiful comet and filefish were mine.
