Well, for all of those who have been to "Big Al's" may know what i am about to talk about.

i was at the location in Barrie, Ontario. I go there for everything hard to find. I was looking around the store for differant items when i came to teh fish tanks. In one tank, there was the LARGET bala shark i have ever seen. 2.5 feet long! this was HUGE. VERY impresssove. It almost was nicer to look at then the great white sharks. Has anyone else come across a full size bala? i had no idea how big these get. I know when i get new fish i read about them, but you never relize how big the fish get until you have seen a full grown one.

bala shark is one if not my favorite fish, it's the reason why i got into fishtanks, i had 3 full grown balas for many years and what a joy to sit and look at , these guys are neat, great personalities , but they do spook very easy and can run into the end of the tank in a sec, also when they spook they can throw gallons of water on your floor/walls ect....
a 2 foot bala i have never seen though it was my impression that they only got 12 to maybe 15inches . but you never really know what can happen,.
very cool fish indeed..

The BA's in Scarborough often has large (though nowhere near 2.5') balas, oscars, sometimes arowanas, catfish, pike - I think some of them are fish turned in by people who can no longer house them.
It really does hammer the message home (for me at least) that if you don't have a BIG tank, don't buy baby tank busters - seeing how big they really get is quite amazing.
