LFS huge fish

i can remember an employee at a big box store telling a lady 2 oscars would look wonderful in her new, still in the cart tank. so he bagged her up two and off she went. poor oscars :(

personally, i would of just bought the max they would have let me and returned a few days later. that really isnt much of a big deal at all, and definitely not worth starting a fight over. had they been trying to sell you some other fish that you didnt want or were selling unsuitable fish to another customer/giving bad advice, that's another story.

Oh I know, I was just trying to say that not all employees are clueless when it comes to fish keeping. I did end up buying the neons the same day, it was just frustrating having to persuade someone to sell them to me, in the end they just tried to tell me I would not get the 7 day guarantee that they usually offer. Which since I still have 10 neons at home, did not mean much to me.

I know what you all mean by LFSs should let people know about the size fish get and the tank size that they would really need when grown..

I was given a tank.. They said it was a 55. And it had a big catfish in it.. When I got the tank it was a red tailed catfish. Poor thing was half the tank length.. The tank was a show tank.. Not as deep as some I have seen.. It could only turn around by going all the way to the surface and falling the other direction..

Then I used the gallon calculator.. Come to find out it is only a 50 gallon..

I took the fish to the LFS that I trust.. He put it in his largest tank.. He has a friend that has a large indoor pond... So the fish did go to a good home.. If I had a place big enough for an indoor pond for it. I would have kept him.. He was neat..

Well excuzzzeme, I don't tell fishy stories. If you like I can go take pictures of the 2 foot bala shark.

I would like that if you could. Having had balas before, I find them interesting regardless of size. I would enjoy seeing pictures of very large ones.

Thanks!

I thought RTCF got too big for an aquarium?

ABC -- so what was the reason for not selling you the neons? I didn't catch it.

Probably adding too many fish at a time which could cause a mini-cycle.

That is what I think it was, but what is funny is the employee never actually gave me a reason.
