LFS - NYC, brookyn, queens or long island

Two great hobbiests recommended to me a place in manhattan that I love now. It is hands down the best fish store I have ever been in. Great selection and great prices. I only want to get my fish from there, but we don't go into the city too often. I should just take the train with a friend because it's like a 5 minute walk from grand central.

New world Aquarium
E38th street east of third ave.

i should have ask earlier:rolleyes: .....i never knew that is so close to the Grand Central.......i was just in NJ in Aug. and goin to NYC everyday.....

but, next time i go, i will remember to go to the Aquarium for sure....;)

New World Aquarium is a nice place, good quality, sometimes oddballs, little pricey, but very knowledgeable staff.
In Chinatown: small stores, but good prices
Pacific Aquarium on Delancey
Win on Mott Street
Aqua Star on Mulberry Street
In Queens:
Fish Town, corner of Northern Blvd and Francis Lewis Blvd
Northern Aquarium on Northern Blvd, 1 block west of Main Street
Tropical Island Aquarium on Main Street, about 6 blocks south of the Main Street subway station (last stop of the 7)
Cameo on Jamaica Ave

WOW......u know alot.......i better write those address down and i will visit those shops for sure next time i go to NJ....:D

Yes Wetman. Sadly it's gone. I posted that a couple of weeks ago. Used to be one of the best stores. The old guy told me that they would open a wholesale business upstate.

OK,,, now I'm gonna go back a few hundred years, but.... does anyone remember Ed's Aquarium on Sunrise Highway in I think Lynbrook or Rockville Centre?? It was an A frame building and "LOADED" with stuff..

I know it's not there anymore (in fact I don't even know if the building is still there), but this was "THE" place to shop for everything for your aquarium back in the 19??ties.

My uncle used to get his supplies there, and I remember begging him to take me along whenever he went. I was in awe of that place. I've never seen another store like it. That's where and how I learned to appreciate the hobby..

;)

Fishtown in Bayside

On Northern blvd about a block or so west of Francis Lewis Blvd. A fully stocked facility with personel who are knowledgeable but constantly changing. Interesting and wide range of livestock along with some beautiful set-ups. Very convenient for myself.

In the city, I also frequent New World, on the block of my bus stop.
