Anyone have any good LFS to recommend for the Torrington , CT area?

Anything within 30 miles or so is acceptable- southern Mass included. I'd rather not frequent the local Petco if I don't have to.

Thanks!

Not really near Torrington but if you're up for a nice day trip, House of Fins in Greenwich is amazing. If you google them you'll find their site....

Yes, Emmett's in Granby/Simsbury...It's right on Rt. 10 literally on the line of both towns....Absolutely amazing store, knowledgeable staff...won't let you buy a fish if you can responsibly house it....Check out his personal saltwater tank, it's amazing...

hahah!! that is closer to me now! Unfortunately no way woul dI tackle 95 for any store;)

I will check out the one on rte 10 though. I definately want to support a GOOD store. Trying to start my own small business and I realize more how important it is to support them and to get one that is good.

keep 'em coming if you have any more ideas. Thanks for the link above, I'll check it out later!

Maybe a few miles over 30, but if you are ever east of Hartford there are two good places.

Aquatic Adventures
801 Hartford Rd
Manchester, CT 06040
860-533-9565

Wet Pets
520 Hartford Tpke #X
Vernon Rockville, CT 06066
860-875-8265

I have bought fish from both stores, and they both have a good selection of fish, very well-kept displays and tons of supplies. Highly recommended if you are nearby. Both just a minute off of I-84.

If we're goin that far I'll plug my girlfriend's family store called Animal City in Vernon and Aquatic Wildlife in Manchester, both are great...Animal City will order anything on request too...

I forgot all about Animal City, bought from them too. Never heard of Aquatic Wildlife, will have to drop in! Animal City has tons of other animals too, pet the bunnies while you brows fish. :-)

cool, those are on my way to Bolton, to visit the "rents". I'll check them out. I am so disenchanted with the local store I found in my area. When ever I mention treatents I am doing as advised by ppl on here or the net, they seem surprised to hear the treatment exists. Or they totally go against information that I have seen time and time again...ie appropriate fish housing. I a craving someone who knows their stuff and is familiar with current ideas and practices.

Do any of these places cross over into reptiles by chance?

All the ones I named do except aquatic wildlife
