Life span of german ram cichlids, and female to male ratio?

Blue rams tend to form monogamous pair.
Bolivians tend to stray from this tho.
as will blues.

but they are not true Harem breeders in that they will tend to stay with a single female.

usually best 2 females /male removing the 3rd wheel if the pair forms..the other female may harass the bejeebus out of the other.

blue rams seem to have a shorter life span usually 2+ yrs. bolivians up to 4 yrs

Thanks star_rider, I knew you would chime in...I am pretty sure I was confusing rams with apistos for some reason:lipssealedsmilie::footinmouth:

I find these fish sensitive. They need soft water with low TDS - water softened with a home softener or an ion exchange pillow is worse than useless. They are also sensitive (like their Apisto relatives, and IME Checkerboard cichlids) to nitrate at the sorts of levels considered normal for most aquaria. I've given up with them because I can't provide the conditions they require.
