Does anybody know the lifespan for different fish. I have one book that is my bible but it only states the lifespan of a clown (can be up to 20yrs). Just thought it might be interesting to know so we have a rough guide. I always hate losing a fish (they're my babies) but it would be helpful to know whether it has reached the end of it's life naturally or because I did something wrong. I know it's hard to guess what age fish are when you first purchase them but a rough idea?

Just a thought!!??

For example a Cleaner wrasse. My last one survived 18 months and I was told by my LFS that was good for a CW. I'd also like to know how long my yellow tang will live for as she's cheated death twice already so I know she's a toughy. I know water conditions etc need to be taken into account but assuming they're OK (which they are) (apart from my red algae problem) it would be nice to know how long I can expect my little babies to live for. I also have an algae blennie, 2 cardinals and a maroon clown.

I only ask because I've been to a place when I've lost a fish within a few months and they say "oh they don't live long anyway, don't worry" and TRY to flog you another one (Idon't go there anymore).

Lists can be found for freshwater fish but I've been looking for a saltwater list for a while now. I'm thinking it probably varies more and might be hard to come up with specific figures. It'd still be nice to see their life spans even if just in their natural habitats.
