Light gurus will this bulb work for a planted tank?

Would they all work fine though? I thought the lower the k the better it is for plants? Thanks for the help. I fell pretty lost when it comes to fresh water.

LOL I even asked the sales person at my LFS if the platies I bought had to be acclimated because I'm soo used to saltwater.

The 6500K bulbs should work fine with plants. Many folks prefer the look of the higher K rated bulbs, which also fall within the plant growing spectrum.
T8s and T5s are both fine. I take it you don't have a light fixture yet? What size tank do you have?

6500K is a good starting value. I use the 6700K philips daylights, but if I was upgrading I'd buy the 9325K bulbs. They do the same thing, but make the tank more pleasing to look at to humans.

Well I can build anything out of wood. What I was hoping for was a DIY that i could retro into a canopy that I would build. Just can't figure out which light to go with I keep going back and forth and don't want to have to rebuy.

I was thinking of going with two NO t5 but then went with 2 30 watt t8s that way its right at 2 WPG which i know is not set in stone. Now after reading the rex grig I'm more confused.LOL I was thinking also 1 55 watt pc, but it's only 22 inches long and my tank is 36"

Just don't know. I don't want to spend a ton on a light till I know it's something I'll stick with. I can retro two 30 watt t8's for around 40.00, but would it be good enough?
