Light K?

I would try to stay at 6500K.I had some in the 8000K rating and everything was purple.If you go to low then everything will be really dark.I personally like a 10,000K bulb since its so crisp and white.

Well, the girlfriends tank's incandescent bulb burned out (she has a 2x screw in light hood) So I went to walmart - lo and behold: they had 6500's. I got 2, 10 watts, and the difference is AMAZING! The tank just looked yellow with her old bulbs, but now it looks SO much better.

I'll be retrofitting my hood to accept CFL's in the near future (4x 26, hopefully :])

I find the regular 2700K we get in this country are very yellow - it can be hard (a) to find the K rating in the UK, and (b) to get higher temperatures, but I have seen some 6500K ("daylight") and might try them on my small corner tank.
