Light Question

Well I have a 5.5 gallon with a 13 watt CFL. This is one of the plain CFLs. I kid you not i every day for like a week a grocery store was giving three to each customer every day. But im not sure if this bulb is ok for plants. Can anyone enlighten me on this bulb?

It will definitely work. Color rendition might not be that good but plants will grow.

The wattage is fine. Can you look on the side of the bulb and see what the K rating is or if it says "sunlight" "soft white", etc. That will also help in determining.

Ok. I was worried about the K rating. I might end up getting a 13 Watt CFL with 6500k instead though

Nope nothin about sunlight or soft white or anything. Its just covered with conserv energy stuff. What I did find was 120VAC 60Hz 180mA i dont know if that helps at all.

When you turn it on does it give off a bright white color or more of a yellowish??

these seem to be the best 2 cfl's hands down imo. i like the walmart bulbs cause i get better growth and less algae with them. you can get them both in about 13 watts.
