Hi,
I have this new 30 g tall hexagonal shape and will set up lots of plants in it, unfortunately, the bulb that came with it is only 15 watts (sunshine from Phillips) I understand this will not be enough. What should I get instead, the light has to get through to the bottom I guess. The hood is fitted with is own lighting strip so my choices are limited plus the glass window is not all that long either so it's not like I want to fool around with the idea of building a brand new hood by myself.
Any suggestions re: watts need and type of bulb?
thanks

I wen tto home depot and bought a small clamp on light fixture, and
full sun light bulb, fore growing regular house plants"I bought two".
The fixtur was 5.50$ and the bulbs 6.50$. I just clamp them on to the lip
of the tank. If you can make room with the floral light,do so it looks nicer.
My PLant Look GREAT I hav Had Them Fore About 6month.
The also sell glass and cut it very cheep.Lights are 75w per one.

Thanks,
Do you have a picture of one of your tank so I can get a better idea of what you meant by using clamp on lights. DO you mean perhaps that I should add, outside of teh tank, two lamps on a stand (like a torchiere type) that send light into the tank? If so, I would be concerned with glare off the glass for aestethic purposes.
thank you again fro your answer.

You have to have a ballast that could handle 75 watts. Usually the ballast are as big as the original bulb. unless it is aplanted tank it really doesn't matter that much though.
