I have a 55 or 60 gallon tank [not sure] and i'd like to know what kind of lighting you guys would suggest for it.

right now i only have one of the two hoods for it, and two light assemblies for 18 inch, 20 watt lights i believe. one of the lights however is burnt out so as far as i remember i only have 15 watts on it right now. so i'd like to know what brands/setups of lights you guys would reccommend, and plants, because i'd like to have some live plants in this, but i don't want to have to get a co2 setup or whatever.

keep in mind, i know little to nothing about lighting and planted tanks.

For a lower light setup, shoot for 2 watts per gallon.

You should still be able to grow easy plants such as mosses, ferns, cryptocorynes, etc. without the need for Co2 or heavy fert dosing.

I would highly suggest a retrokit from www.ahsupply.com The 2x36w kit would be a good starting point but may leave too much room on the ends. The 2x55w kit would also work but you'd be dealing with a lot more light. However, I would be good to know exactly what tank size you have. What are the dimensions?

i'm not at home right now, where it's at, so i'm not positive, unfortunately. i'm pretty sure it's a 55, even though i got it as a '60'. i believe i found that the dimensions were the same as those on a 55 gal. in a petsmart.
