Lighting Big Tanks

I have the same tank and is a planted tank, what I have is a coralife pro 3mh x150w and 4 PC. The mh are 10000k and the PC are 6700k and 10000k, but if you can find the 8800k go whit them. My photoperiod is 9 to 8 the 4 pcs and 12 to 4pm the MH. I have my lights mounted on the roof and over 1.5ft of the top of the tank. Hope this help you.

About the temp, what is your temp? And also depend not just of the ligths.

This is all theoretical right now I'm just trying to plan for when I get it home and help decide which way to go with lighting. It seems if I want the light to penetrate all the way to the substrate I would require the Metal Hallides. I would like keep the tank at 76F and room temp is 70F would the 3 mh cause raising of the temperature?

No, and you don't need the mh on all the time with 4 hours is enough for your deep plants. Also you need a co2 system, i keep mine on 24/7

My tank temp is 85F with no mh, with mh 86F and my room temp is 76F. The coralife pro has the fans on the top of the fixture.

Yes I have a pressurized CO2 system on my smaller tank that I'll be transfering over and upgrading the diffuser for the much larger tank. Would it be possible to run on only 3 mh?
