Lighting Decisions... HELP!

Ok the hood I bought is broke... so I have time to think a little longer... I'm using the NO florescent that came with my 55 and the PC actinics for lighting now.. but this wont keep everything going for to long... I'm feeding anemone and polyps for now until I get the new lighting... then I'll cut back the feedings again

I do have a question though... since I have a standard 55g and the 90g that i may get in the future is similar will I really need MH lights?

and is there such a thing as too much light? can I overpower my tank with excess light where it would actually hurt the inhabitants?

Answer to your question would be yes if you want to continue to keep your nem succesfully. Nems really do require not only pretine water conditions, but also very good quality lighting.

Too much lighting? - Answer would be yes, it can cause problems like coral bleaching.

Just my opinion of course..

Thanks everyone...

I appreciate all the help and I have ordered my lights !!!YAY!!!
about time...

I ordered 2 175w MH in the 14k spectrum, I found a great deal (so I think) I got 2 retrofit kits from the same company for $205 shipped to my door. They offered a 1yr warranty everything but the bulbs and the had a great ebay rating...

I'll post more as i go... I can't wait to setup my hood!

Thanks again,
-LS

good luck, make sure you wear sunglasses

Linky please!!!!

OK...

You all may have thought that this saga has come to an end... It has not

I returned my hood to trade for a new one and petco didnt have one. So logicaly I went to my LFS to see if they had one.. unfourtunately they didn't... So while I was checking there prices on ordering one (they actually were cheaper than Petco) my wife gets my attention and points out a tank...

And before I have time to wipe the drool from my chin she mentions the job I just did was for the same ammount they were asking for the tank...

Long story short I went home last night with a 125g 7ft tank...

Needless to say the canopy is useless and I will have to build one myself...

Good thing I got the MH's comming...

BTW,
I got the MH's off of ebay...
