Figure out what kind of planting you want to do, and keep in mind that your oscar is likely to rip it all up for you to do over again. I have 2x65w over my 55 and I can grow most med-light plants. If you're going to do high-tech with CO2 and ferts and high-light plants, you might need more. If you just want to grow java fern and java moss, the 60w one would probably work.

yea the oscars on his last legs ,not lookin so hot these last few days... when he goes im going to mae it a planted rainforest type thing, LOTS of cabamba, some amazon swords, bacopa, java moss, those ones that look like lily pads lol are any of these considered high light plants?? and is it worth paying 100 bucks fr that light,or just get a 55 gal kit and use that single strip ??

does the link work??

My 55 does great with 8 x 14 watt CFLs. You could consider that if you don't mind a little DIY.

i would consider diy... would you be able to post pics of your light?? that would be much apreciated :)

Yeah, I can do that. Will have it up in about 2 hours (gotta take the wife to work). I had a DIY thread in creation, but the forum went down that night, so I lost what I wrote. I'll get some pics and list the materials...it was super easy.
