I am going to start collecting the items needes to start a 120 gallon reef. I am confused with the lighting. I plan to make my own canopy. The lighting i want in this system, 2-250w HQI metal halide 10000k and i will suppliment actinic, I have an icecap ballest for vho lights that I could use. I was wondering if someone point me in the right direction. I think a DIY kit would be better since I plan to make the canopy. Im just so lost I guess, as to what all I need for the lighting . So if anyone can shed some light on this and steer me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated. :duh: :duh:

Do you already have the MH? If not, you can get pendant style lights, and then cut out openings in the top for them to sit on. Then the VHO's run along the sides. That's how the canopy for my 120 was setup--worked great. My husband built the canopy and stand (they're for sale right now, if you're interest and in S Cali). ;)

I have not bought the lights yet. I live in Michigan so buying your lights/ canopy is out of the question. Anyway could post some pics of your lights and canopy so I can get an idea. Thanks
