I am still working on my 180 build the stand and canopy are finished and about to be stained. The question I have or the opinion Im looking for is about lighting. How many 96 watt bulbs would be considered high lighting 2-4-6-8 and how long should they be on for and should the color temp change( a couple 6700 and a couple 10000 ) I am at the point of mounting lighting in the canopy and only want to do this once. The tank will have a bed of flourite and presserized C02.

Well, personally I wouldn't use PC bulbs, I'd use T5HO, but if you already have them or are dead set on it, I go with 4x96w of PC. That will give you plenty of light.

You can throw in another 2x96w in there if you want it for a mid day burst, but I wouldn't run it for more than a couple of hours.

If you want to go T5HO you could do 6x39w, or 8x39w for the midday burst.

I already have a coralife 4x96 fixture and two coralife 2x96 remote ballast setups.

I'm getting ready to build a hood and plan on using 6x96 watt pc with ahsuppy reflectors. I have a coralife 2x96 with 6700k 's and compared the color to a 55 watt ahsuppy 6700k and the coralife ones looked more yellow. I am going to remove the ballasts from the coralife and set the lighting up with hangers and reflectors from ahsupply. As far as the color combo , I am going to see if the ahsupply bulbs at 6700k are white enough by themselves , otherwise I am going to stick in some 10,000k 's. My tank is a 125 , 6 ft long.

Sounds good, I have four 6500 k bulbs and two 420/460 sun pac bulbs. I was thinking about starting in the morning with the two 420/460 bulbs then having the 6500 come on later and stay on for 8 to 10 hours. I was not sure if I should stagger all three ballast. Also should I drop the 420/;460 and add 10000k bulb for a nice blast of afternoon light.
