Ms.Bubbles AC Members Sep 26, 2005 840 0 0 Nov 26, 2006 #2 A tank with live plants needs 10-12 hours per day of lighting. If there are no live plants, you can reduce it to much less-- I would suggest no more than 8 hours/day if you're having algae problems.
