Lighting Question

I have an eclipse system with 2 cichlids in the tank. I have begun to develop some red algae. I was wondering what is a good amount of time to leave the light on each day.

A tank with live plants needs 10-12 hours per day of lighting.

If there are no live plants, you can reduce it to much less-- I would suggest no more than 8 hours/day if you're having algae problems.
