I have a 20 gallon setup with 2 clownfish in the aquarium. I also have 1 green brittle star and a few crabs. I have my light on a timer, but was wondering how long i should have the light on. Now I have it on for 10 hours and off for the other 14. Just wondering what everyones suggestions are on this.

is it possible to leave lights on too long?

sometimes mine are on for 16 hours plus

Yes, sure....Too much and its just asking for the the inevitable plague algae to start....8 hours if fine for all in my opinion....

Thanks for the replys. I will jsut leave it on the 10 hours. I was also wondering what temp i should keep the aquarium at. I have it on 78 degrees right now. I have tried to look up what temps, but everyone seems to have their own opnion. Any suggestions whould be great....

I do 6 hours with my 10 k 60 watt bulb, and about 4 with my 50 bulb. When those aren't on, I have the moon light the rest of the time. I'd say 10 hours is more than enough. Might be pushing it. But if you have no algea then ur good!
