for the best lighting to bring out the color of your fish, I prefer a natural daylight spectrum between 5000-7000 K. K stands for Kelvin, and it is a rating of color or "warmth" of a bulb. It will be listed on the bulb packaging. Others may prefer a more pink bulb, like in the 9300 K range. It's a personal preference.
