I have a 55gal tank that i am turning into a reef and i was wondering if 9 watts per gallon would be too much light for any corals. Also is there an ideal watt per gallon to keep any kind of coral in a reef tank? Thanks

Emery

watts per gallon is a complete waste of time./ dont even bother with it
for example, if you had 192 watts of PC on a 40 breeder, it would be a heck of a lot less light than a 150 watt HQI MH. and then there is even different decrepencies is brand, type of bulb, reflectors, ballast, ect.
9 watts per gallon of what?
but to awnser the first question, that isnt too much, but it could be depending on what you are looking to keep.
