usually i turn on the aquarium light at 7am and at about 530pm ill turn it off.. under some circumstances i had to change my schedule.. is it okay if i turn the lights on at 1pm and lights off at 11pm(when im goin to bed)..?

if i turn the lights off too late in the night, wudnt the plants have less time to respirate? wud this be a problem? what time do you guys turn on and off ur lights?

and what about room lighting?

I have a dual 40W flo. in my living room, which makes it a fiarly bright place.... when I turn the lights off on my tank, wouldnt this be too bright for "night time"?

Whatever works for you... My main tank lights aren't on 'till 3PM, off at 11. The tank gets no direct light via windows to speak of, so the fish can probably see out a lot better than I can see in before 3, but 3-11 works for me because I get home at 4-5PM, turn in ~11-12.

When I am around light on 8am - light off 8pm. When I am traveling light on 9.30am - light off 7pm (when I am traveling curtains are wide open all the time, so more light anyways, and less opportunity for me to clean the tanks).

have the lights on when you are around to view the tank. I am only home in the evenings...so I don't even bother having them come on until 3pm...then off at 11pm when I normally turn in. Its a good 8 hours and more than enough for the fish and plants.

Do you have live plants?? If not keep lights off till viewing.

yes my tank is planted, that is why i am worried about them.

i started my new routine today.. hopefully the plants wud be okay..

I'm a 5PM till 1:30 or 2:00 AM kinda guy. However, I hit the rack about 10:00 PM or 10:30 and up at 5:30 AM or so.
