I have a tank that is 29inch tall how many watts my light need to be for plants

depends. how many gal do you have and what type of lighting do you want? also what kind of plants do you want? do you want to add co2 and ferts? after 24inch down the light really doesnt penetrate as well. i would go with CF lights. ahsupply.com has the best reflectors around.

hmmm i think it 120gHEX i know its big. right now i have 175MH and 2 36w PC on it

with the right bulbs MH will work. i never used any my self but others do.

That sounds about right. Is there some reason you think its insufiicient? The Iwasaki 14,000K MH is supposed to be about the highest PAR MH in the 175W config if you need to get a new bulb. If your tank is a hex of that size, your probably best sticking with MH. If you really need more light, try upgrading to 250W and go with the 6500K Iwasaki (and make sure to use a good reflector). Keep the PC for extended viewing/dusk n dawn effect. Just my recomendation.
