Neither pose much of a threat to each other unless one is small enough to be swalllowed by the other. The threat they pose to you is however very real. Not to say that they shouldn't be kept, but they certainly shouldn't be kept lightly. They pose a threat of serious pain or even death in rare circumstances. Having experienced a mild Lion sting I can say with absolute surety that you will never experienced such pain until it happens to you. Forget natural childbirth, forget kidney stones. A Lionfish sting really hurts.

Well not really planning to cuddle with em but I understand thank you for answering

A wise course of action, but unless you plan on paying someone to clean the tank for you a bit more consideration on the matter would be wise. A good start is to consider a tank with any venomous fish to be venomous snake country. The first rule of safety in such places is to never place your hand or foot anyplace you can't see clearly. You should never step over a fallen log, but rather step on top where you can see, then look on the other side before stepping down. If you keep that thought process in mind, and/or can keep an eye on the animal in question, there should be no problem. Only idiots get bit by snakes they see before they get bit. Neither fish will actively seek to sting you and neither qualifies as aggressive in any way. But when a Lionfish learns (rather quickly) that you = food, he will come charging towards you in a friendly manner. If he's coming up fast and you're going down without FULL awareness of what you're doing and why you're doing it AS you're doing it, well, stuff happens.

I've read a story when someone had a few lionfish and they all charged the hand wanting food and the person got stung pretty badly...
