List some fish that are happy living solo

any knifefish is fine as a loner. large catfish such as the redtail cat are also loners. large cichlids can be kept singley.

See Leah you just need to get a fahaka puffer. Bet that would take care of your husbands platy problem too. Oops j/k! But no seriously how about a wolf cichlid. Lol! Ok I'm done.

Thanks Seth, helpful as always :thm:
But this isn't for now--I'm just thinking about the future. And I think I see paradise fish in my future.

Most eels do fine solo

Mbu Puffer, Umbee, Pike cichlids, Nile perch, Gulper cat, Aripima gigas, Red devil... I have others that also would be fine alone but they're all mixed up in the monster tank

Dojo loaches. People underestimate the capability of this particular species and often stamp this fish in league to one of the "emotional" species who could not live singly when in truth, this is purely human perception. The dojo can interact well with its owner and can cope on its own.

Blue ram
Bolivian ram
Puffers
Goldfish
Plecos (most species, research first)
Horsefaced loaches
Koi
Angelfish
Striped Raphael catfish
Starry Woodcat
Spotted Raphael catfish

Any mormyrid can and does either live on its own or in massive groups. No in-betweenies.
This includes knifes, elephantnoses, freshwater dolphins, baby whales.. anything with a weak electromagnetic field.

Red tail sharks and rainbow sharks, too, I'd think.
