I have a 30 gallon tank now of freshwater community fish. Should I transfer the community fish to the 55 gallon and then move my 10 gallon african cichlid tank into the the 30 gallon? That would probably be the best idea, right. One question though, Should I use all crushed coral for the bottom to raise the pH in the water.

What do you have in the community tank right now?
I don't know anything about cichlids, but I DO know that most (if not all) of them require a lot more room than a 10, and probably more room than a 30... what do you have in that cichlid tank?
Do you have plants in either tank?

just picked-up the tank last night. Tried cleaning it with hot water and tried scaping it with a razor blade but it started to scratch the glass. :sad What else can I use to cleane the tank if it's hard water stains and how do I clean the plastic hood. Please reply ASAP because I'm so excited to get this tank up and running.
Have you thought about bleaching it?
It sounds like the last thing you'd want to do to a fish tank but it's actually fine as long as you rinse it very thoroughly and make sure all traces of bleach have evaporated before using the tank. best to place it in direct sunlight for a day in order to burn off all traces.
The second hand tank i bought was prepared for me by the seller this way and it's fine.
