just need some advice on my cycle please here is my stats:

PH - 8.2
Alk - 2.9
Nitrite - 0.2
Nitrate - 100 mg/l
Ammo - 1.5 mg/l
temp - 76
SG 1.022
live rock

I have only been cycling since tuesday, are these normal stats at this early stage, or should i do 20% - 30% water change.

thanks guys.

I would just to keep from all of your inverts from being toasted. Are you cycling with shrimp or are do you have uncurred live rock? I would be concerned about your smaller inverts on your live rock a lot of them could take quite a beating if you are setting up a reef I'd at least try to do water changes to keep ammonia below 1ppm.
That probably won't be very possible without a lot of attention if you are using live rock for your cycle. Also if you are wanting to keep larger more predatory fish etc. I wouldn't do anything to lower ammonia and I would dose ammonia up to about 5ppm.

Max.

I'd just ride it out and let the bacteria do their thing. Once ammonia and nitrite become undetectable, then I'd start a water change schedule to bring down the nitrates before adding in the first fish.

I agree, i am not going to add fish or inverts to January, so like you say i'll just ride it out, and keep testing the water. I will be adding some live rock on monday, which is already cured. Do you recommend any water change in this period.

And any opinions on the high nitrate, does that mean the bactria have not yet established.

Also i heard that having a high AlK can act as a buffer, when ph gets low.
Is this true?
