Okay I just have to share this with you. I check our local freecycle.org list quite often for free stuff people are giving away. Yesterday someone listed a 55 gallon tank with a stand. They said they had had a house fire and that there was no room in the new house for it and that the stand needed new polyurethane. I jumped on it thinking "hey no matter what free tank right?".
When I got there I found a beautiful 55 gallon tank with a practically pristine solid oak stand and hood. FOR FREE!!!! WAHOO!!! See picture attached. T
The story is that tank and stand were selected for restoration rather than replacement by the insurance company after the house fire. Only she didn't like the way they restored the stand (looks fine to me) and the restoration company chipped the tank a tiny bit in the corner. So the insurance company reimbursed her for the tank and stand and she just wanted rid of it!
Ok hate me for a little bit....
Little more...
Ok, so my question is about the chip. I have attached three different pictures of the chip on the corner of the thank. It seems very shallow and the silicone is undisturbed. Does it look like it is good to go? Should I just fill 'er up and see? Seems like the corner would be a pretty strong junction of the glass and there would be next to no water pressure directly on the chip.
Any thoughts?
