Little pond with vertical garden

Thanks, I"ll have to look into this a bit more.

You really need to get hold of a copy of Patrick Blanc's book. I got it out of the library first, then I bought it. I've been interested in vertical gardens for years, and Blanc's method is by far the best IMHO. Especially If its combined with a fish pond, then it becomes ornamental aquaponics.
Most of the plants are planted in just the cloth, but I planted a few in small pockets with some potting mix. Time will tell if it makes any difference.
The capillary cloth is white and kind of like dense polyester wading like the stuff used in filters. I only used it because I couldn't find a supplier of the grey irrigation fabric
blanc uses.

I think that a lot of people are a bit put off by the reliance of a pump and a timer, and the chance of it breaking down. But the pump actually makes it much more low maintenance. No watering just feed the fish and top off the pond now and again..

? I've never even seen a frost where I live.
There are plenty of examples of P Blanc's gardens in Europe that survive the winters over there, and he does mention the non woven cloth not being damaged by freezing.

do i spy a goldfish in there?
great garden. :) i love it
For sure! goldies are my favourite fish. Paradise fish being my 2nd-

Fortunately Google Books has a lovely preview of the book and I do think I will have to buy it! I'm thrilled that it's so simple. I'm thinking of incorporating this idea into my aquariums...
Do post more photos as your wall grows in. It looks great already!
you won't regret it. Please make a thread when you go ahead with your project, I'd be very interested to see it.

really nice job. I'd love to see how this would be planted for the cold northeastern US...
Its hard to imagine it working in sub-freezing conditions. but even if it didn't you could grow annuals..
It looks really nice! Cool photography skills btw :D
Ta but I have no photography skills, I just take heaps of pics and have to bin 90% of them:D

some update pictures-

none of the plants are growing super fast. I'm guessing the fish aren't producing enough nitrates for vigorous growth.

the babies tears is filling in nicely. I imagine that it improves the growing conditions for the other plants on the wall by insulating it and trapping moisture.
