little white worm on neon

sorry for late reply. the clear white thing is a fluk for sure. the worm that neon had was very white, like painted white. the neon is still alive and now i can't even tell which one it was.

there's lots of different kinds of flukes. they don't all live in gills. just thought i'd make that clear. But yes, you should treat the entire tank (in my opinion) because parasites lay tons of eggs and they could be everywhere by now.
 
i don't know what i would do, because i loose ton of fish when i put any kind of parasitemeds in the tank
 
yeah, it's a tough call. sorry i made it sound so easy. I've never had to deal with flukes or parasites other than ich, so I made it sound kinda like lah dee dah.

Since you said you have scaleless fishes, and that meds often kill your fish (and this is often the case), I would be reluctant to use chemical treatments, too. Maybe start a new thread titled "natural ways to get rid of flukes" or something like that. it couldn't hurt, because then it would address the specific question you want answered. many people won't read something that's buried in another thread with a general title, cuz they think you're still just trying to identify what you have.
 
Oh geez! Tonight, I look in my 33 gallon tank and at the top of the dorsal fin of my rainbow dace (where fin meets fish) is this long white thing. It was closer to clear than white, and when I pluck it off it kinda disintegrated so I couldn't tell for sure what it was. That tank holds all my fancy male guppies so I'm a bit iffy on treating it.

I'm also not 100% positive it wasn't just a piece of the top fin. Its got me all jittery though. I HATE when things don't go right!! :mad:
 
my worm was hard. i pulled once and pinched half off, so the rest of the worm just started comming out of the hole, but still was holding on tite when i pulled it off. watch the fish a little and make sure that u just don't freek out after u read this post before u torcher poor little fish. i also read up that my fish had very slim change to live even if i wouldn't pull the worm out due to infections that could start or maybe some other problem.
