Live fish direct

I really don't want to start an argument here but, I did send an email of a list of 4 different mbuna species asking if they could be sexed, a total of 20 fish 1m/4f all of the show quality size that is offered by this company. The email I got back and I wish I had saved it stated that the company could not guarantee the sex of ANY fish no matter the size but that they would do their best. The site however specifically states that in fish that are considered show quality the sex could be guaranteed.

petluvr,

As this has been over a month ago, and it's only now that the owner of said company defends themselves, so it's understandable that you did not save anything relating to this incident. I really can't think of any reason why you would be making any of this up, and hence would be more likely to beleive you.

E-Mail retention is a huge thing, for any company that wishes to do well. If Mr Davis is whole-heartedly trying to make a name for himself, then he would provide solid proof of what went down, or didn't, by providing documents and or an explaination for what has transended.

I too am not looking for any arguements per-say, but this thread has been pretty old, and left alone. In fairness, both sides of the story should be heard. Mr Davis has taken a huge step forward to join these forums to defend his company, something that most owners would not do. I commend him for that.

Ya know, I wonder if the statement that they could not promise a certain sex is just a form of covering themselves. I mean, they may be able to pick the fish of the sex you want 99% of the time, but what about that remaining 1% when a mistake is made (and they will be made no matter how good you are). From what I've seen in this thread I think I would order from them at least once (and probably will soon as I'm looking for a pair of cichlids and have no chance of getting one locally other than by luck). If / when I order I'll let you guys know how it went if this thread is still showing any activity (will probably be at least a week).

lfd

I recently recieved an order from LFD wich I paid over $500 for. I had 2 male Haplichromis Flame Back , 2 male Xystichromis Kyoga Flame Back and 4 females. All were supposed to be Premium fish, 2 to 3 inches. I expected males to have some color but they have none. Also 1 male is totally deformed. they have been in my 265g for 3 days now, still no color. I am dissapointed with my order. Does anyone know if these fish will ever color up?

I sent a complaint to Live Fish Direct about dissappointment with order. Recieved an email this morning from President of Company. He appologized and offered to replace all of the fish. He even said he would catch all fish himself to ensure I get quality Flamebacks. I thought that was really cool.

I'm not surprised that Mr Davis has not returned since his debut back in March. Perhaps his generous offer to make up for his company's lack of quality fish is an attempt to make right, what is wrong to begin with. I don't believe that anyone should have to ask, to get what they are paying for. You place an order, and you should get what you agreed to pay for.

the Kyoga's are a beautiful fish - hope you get it straightened out. lots of bad press lately about sheister fish shops...

I'm thinking about ordering from livefishdirect, mostly because they have two fish I've been wanting, a female festae and the Calvus Black Congo. I checked liveaquaria and they don't carry either fish or many others that livedirect does. I've never ordered a cichlid before so I'm trying to do as much homework as I can before hand.

Contact them before ordering to make sure and get in writing that they guarantee the sex of the fish.
