Live fish direct

I have 3 Obliquiden Zebras, 2 Ngara Flametails, and 1 Regal Blue (that they included free w/ my order). The tank is in my living room, not near any windows. No kids running around, no one tapping on the glass or any other disturbances. I had Discus for years in the same tank and same location with no problems at all (they actually would eat from my fingers), and also Jack Dempseys and a Firemouth, again with no problems at all. In preparing for the new fish I did a 20% water change, added an aragonite substrate to help maintain a higher pH, and made sure the tank parameters were all okay. In all my years of fish keeping this is the first time that I've experienced this. And I'm not knocking the fish from Live Fish Direct; like I said they all arrived alive and seemingly healthy, and I am satisfied with their selection and prices. I was only making a comment on the fact that I am a little disappointed that they didn't bother to get back to me to address my concerns.

I only wanted to know why my fish refuse to come out of hiding even to feed. I spent a lot of money on fish that are worthless to me if I can't see them!

wait did i read this right, are you seriously trying to ask your fish seller why your fish wont come out of hiding and getting upset they wont respond to you?

this has to be the post of the week!:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Okay, thanks, but the sarcasm is not at all helpful. I thought I could use this forum to find some legitimate insightful discussion. Sorry to have wasted your time, but I'm glad at least that you had a good laugh at my expense.

Update:
I did finally hear from live Fish Direct through e-mail (seems no one uses a phone anymore). They thought it was unusual that my fish won't come out of hiding (although from what I've read it really isn't too uncommon at all). Their suggestions were to remove the hiding places, thereby forcing them into the open, or using a school of dither fish to try and draw them out. Here is an excerpt from their e-mail "...they should not be so skitish. If they continue to be let me know and i will work something out with you." Not sure what that means exactly, but I certainly am pleased at finally having heard from them, so I don't feel as bad about their service as I did before.

I thought that was odd, too, and told him so. But I was happy to at least finally here from them. In fact, here is part of a follow up e-mail they sent when I balked at removing the hiding places "If the dither fish do not get your fish out then take out your rockas and see if that does anything. If both of these don't work I don't know what to tell you.

If your fish die in the process, send me a picture and I will refund you for them or get you a credit toward a future order."

So they are obviously standing behind their product with me and I am hoping for the best with my fish.

Maybe entice them out with some bloodworms and in the process fatten them up if they haven't eaten since they arrived.
