I was in Walmart today, and I saw some bulbs (4 or 5 in a package) for live aquarium plants. The instructions said to just drop them in the tank and the roots would attach. It said this particular plant (and there were 3 or 4 different ones) would grow 5-8 inches in the first 15 days. Anyone tried these ? And how were the results ? Just curious ! Thanx.

i bought some and none grew they all went bad and started to stink but the thing on the back says if they don't grow wright the place and they will give you some free ones

I use those almost exclusively in my 2 planted tanks. I've had about a 50% sucess rate with mine.

I had some grow very large in my 55 gallon when I had 30 watts of light. Only 1 of the 6 bulbs I had didn't grow. They were nice plants I thought. I wonder how good they'd do now that I have 130 watts?

I had some, about 1/2 sprouted but my loaches ate all but 1. The leaves seemed quite fragile, easily torn when gravel vac'ing. Between me & the fish it didn't last. Too bad, it was pretty.

I've had some nice luck with assorted bulbs... 2 of the 3 onion plant bulbs I got are growing well, and one of the bulbs in particular has experienced EXPLOSIVE growth in the month or so I've had it. Its grown to the top of a 55g tank, and is now producing a stem which appears to have a miniature version of the plant growing on it. (I think this may be its means of reproducing?) I'll get some pictures up soon to show you what I mean... its been exciting watching it grow so rapidly! (I've finally identified it as Aponogeton Crispus)

I bought 3 packages about 3 weeks ago. Most of them have started to rot but 1 has small sprouts just starting. I don't know if they sat in the store too long but I will be doing what it says on the package. Send them back with proof of purchase and they will replace them. They say to wait a month so I have about a week to go. I just don't see anything happening yet.
