Live Plants from PetSmart?

Gettin plants from petsmart can be iffy, i got a hornwort bunch, and later found it had some form of parasite or some aquatic bug on it. The plant grew fine just had that little hitch hiker

If you are looking at the ones in the tubes, jeta is correct. Before you buy, take note of what you're interested in and then come home and research them as some of them are not truely aquatic. For example, the ferns, or the plants with white stripes on them.... they may last for a little bit but definitely not long term.

My local petsmart has marimo balls, anubias nana attached to lava rock, water wisteria, moneywort, and i believe water sprite. They are all in tank and not in the tubes, but I have heard that some tube plants are aquatic (cannot confirm).

I can't find decent quality plants much of anywhere near me :( All either non-aquatics from Pet-Smart-Co-Land places, or just really sad and pitiful looking. Hope yours works out for you. But yeah. Definitely research anything you want to buy, particularly from the big chains because their suppliers send them just about anything, and they often don't know the difference.

Yeah mine has all those as well. Not the best prices, but it's near my house and it's nice to buy plants in water that's a lot closer to mine.

As far as the tube ones- I've bought Amazon swords, anubias, and java ferns in tubes before. I think those are the only ones that are fully aquatic that they sell in tubes.

Ok I used to work at a petsmart for the longest time and the plant tank was my responsibility. Well we were forced to get rid of it and bring in the "test-tube plants" you all see now. Only 2 or 3 of them are truly aquatic. I believe there's an amazon sword, anubia of some kind and one other that I can't think of the name. Most of my plants have come from petsmart and are doing just fine. I have never purchased any from the "test-tubes" nor do I plan to.

There is nothing wrong with petsmart or the product they provide. Just make sure you know what plant you're looking at and make sure you look at the label. I think it will tell you if it's fully aquatic or not.

I've had bad luck with plants from the big box stores. No matter what I do with those, they crap out on me. Started buying from people on here, and had great luck. :) I would recommend buying from AC'ers before you buy at a local box store. IME it's better quality, and usually less expensive, even with shipping.
